Good evening, I blog at the end of a busy day as an in-house lawyer.

I created this site to support in-house lawyers. It will provide help, guidance, support and reassurance to the reader that they are doing a fabulous job in their roles.
As someone that has has several roles as an in-house lawyer, both as sole counsel and as part of a team I know from experience that there is a real need for something to go to for advice and support on the non-technical aspects of being an in-house lawyer. Usually it is just that reassurance that you're not alone and that you're doing a great job.
As former Chair of the In-house Division Network for The Law Society of England and Wales, I've met a lot of in-house lawyers and see a real need and want amongst in-house lawyers for somewhere to get guidance, typically on the non-technical aspects of their roles.
Being an in-house lawyer in a business or organisation can sometimes leave you feeling lonely as you have been trained to think and do things in a certain way, which other non-legally trained people aren't familiar with. It can often leave you feeling you're doing something wrong when you're actually doing everything absolutely right.
There are things setbacks, challenges and frustrations you will experience that almost if not every in-house lawyer faces and this should reassure you that you're not alone and there are ways to overcome them. Hopefully, by sharing my experiences, I can give you some ideas on what you can do and help you to become the best version of yourself by giving you tips and inspiration for your role.
Above all I just want to reassure you that you're doing a great job!
